Aggregation
Aggregation is the rule that collapses many usage events into the single billable quantity for a period, such as a count of events, a sum of a property, a maximum value, or a count of unique identifiers.
Also called aggregation type.
The choice encodes what you are selling. Summing gigabytes transferred bills throughput; taking the maximum bills peak capacity; counting unique users bills reach. The same event stream produces very different invoices under each.
Aggregation also decides how the system handles events that arrive late or out of order, which is what separates a billing system from a dashboard.
