Cash collection
Cash collection is the process of turning issued invoices into received payment, covering payment capture, retries, reminders and the reconciliation of what actually arrived.
Also called accounts receivable collection.
Revenue recognised is not cash in the bank. The gap between the two is where collection lives, and it widens as contracts get larger and payment terms get longer.
Reconciliation is the part teams underestimate: matching an incoming payment to the right invoice, in the right currency, net of fees.
